The so longed for Quiet Zone Project is now in effect and many Downtown San Diego Condo and Downtown San Diego Loft home owner are considered to have received an early Christmas gift. The project was set to be fully completed in November of 2011 but was now totally finished in December 2012.
The project has included a lot of construction along the train tracks in Downtown San Diego all the way from Laurel Street in Little Italy down to Park Blvd in the East Village. The Quiet Zone Project was all about limiting the train horns from blasting. Residents along the tracks have for years been waiting for the day when the train horns stops blasting, especially at 3am in the morning.
You will still be able to hear the train make its way down the tracks as well as the trolley and the train track intersection sounds but this is no way loud compared to the train horns. For more information about the project visit their website at www.quietzonesd.info. ')}
