When the weather is nice, there’s nothing quite like dining al fresco, and the weather is nearly always nice in San Diego. Perhaps that’s why OpenTable, the widely used online reservation site, chose seven San Diego restaurants for their list of the 100 Best Al Fresco Dining Restaurants in America.
1. Tom Ham’s Lighthouse
Since 1971, Tom Ham’s Lighthouse has been serving up quality seafood with an unparalleled view of the San Diego Bay, the downtown skyline, and Coronado Island. Their bottomless champagne brunch buffet on Sundays is a great deal, to boot.
2. The Prado at Balboa Park
In the heart of Balboa Park, and just a few minutes drive if you live in a condo in downtown San Diego, The Prado offers great seafood, tapas, and handcrafted cocktails in a setting ideal for a romantic date night.
3. Brockton Villa
Looking for a great breakfast? This beautiful, historic home-turned-restaurant has an amazing view of La Jolla as well as a soufflé-like French toast that’s out of this world. Other favorites include their chilaquiles and corned beef hash.
4. Poseidon
Up the coast from downtown, Poseidon is known for its beautiful oceanfront location as well as the fresh seafood, meat, and pasta. The calamari taco–trust us on this one–is delicious.
5. Stone Brewing World Bistro
Fantastic world-inspired cuisine (everything from yakisoba to schnitzel), and a cozy outdoor dining area with a gigantic fire pit are only a few of the great things about Stone Brewing World Bistro. They also have some of the world’s best beer.
6. Sea 180 Coastal Tavern
With an excellent happy hour, a Tuesday night date night special ($40 for wine, dinner, and dessert), and superb seafood, Sea 180 offers oceanfront dining with a great view of Imperial Beach.
7. George’s Ocean Terrace
This rooftop restaurant offers a great view of the ocean as well as fresh, light cuisine. Their seared tuna is one of the best seafood dishes in the city.
