Waterfront
A local favorites, Waterfront Bar and Grill has been around since 1933, making it San Diego’s oldest tavern. The drinks are strong, the food is good, and the crowd is friendly. This dive bar is ideal for a low-key birthday celebration, but keep in mind, it gets packed Friday and Saturday nights.
Juniper & Ivy
If you prefer celebrating you with a nice dinner and your close friends, make a reservation at Juniper & Ivy. Anchored by chef Richard Blais, of Top Chef fame, this restaurant will leave a lasting impression. The handcrafted cocktails will excite you and the food will blow you away, in both presentation and taste.
Mimmo’s
Mimmo’s is a traditional Italian restaurant whose décor will make you think you’ve been transported to right to Rome. They have plenty of outdoor seating, ideal for a nice summer night in San Diego, with a couple of tables near the marquee Little Italy arch. If good Italian food and good atmosphere are at the top of your must-have list, this is the place for you.
Music Box
This newer Little Italy spot regularly holds concerts and special events. It spans three different levels, and each floor has its own unique design that overlooks the stage below. Music Box also serves food, offers VIP service, and can be rented out for private events.
