A man described as a rounded adult male with red hair and a red goatee stopped by this parked white Mercedes Benz in the corner of Tenth Street and Island Avenue in the East Village/Ballpark District in Downtown San Diego on February 10th in the early morning. He decided to break in and search the car quickly….but two men apparently ruined his further plans of finding anything and went off running down the street. A police officer driving by took up the chase and drove ahead of the suspect and stopped the man. Downtown San Diego Condo and Downtown San Diego Loft home owners and residents from the area said it looked like a chase from something out of a movie.
One of the two men that interrupted the stopped man was a building engineer from the M2i building and he said that a key ring was found in the man’s possession. There were hundreds of keys and security fobs that might be accessible to nearby condo buildings such as Icon, The Mark, Fahrenheit, Park Terrace, Diamond Terrace, Park Loft, Park Boulevard East, Park Boulevard West and Metrome. The police later found out that the man had a criminal history and was out on parole.
