Are you considering buying Downtown San Diego real estate? In addition to great food and beautiful waterfront parks, the neighborhood is taking steps to become one of the healthiest around. Scripps Health and the Downtown San Diego Partnership are working together on a wellness initiative called “Healthy Living in the City” that encourages residents to explore the area and the healthy lifestyle opportunities it offers.
Guided Lunchtime Walks
Two Fridays a month, Healthy Living offers free guided walks through a featured Downtown San Diego neighborhood. Every walk is 30 minutes, and first-time participants will receive Scripps water bottles. In May, you can check out the Ballpark District and the Marina District.
Yoga Around Town
In addition to guided walks, Downtown San Diego residents can get fit at twice-monthly yoga classes taught by Yoga One. Just like the walks, the yoga classes are free—you just have to register. Class times vary (in May there is a 6pm and a 9am), all ages and levels are welcome to join, and you’ll need to bring your own mat. The unique locations change every class, and this month you can stretch your stress away at Horton Square and the Headquarters at Seaport Village.
Recipes for Life
A healthy lifestyle is more than just physical fitness, it’s being mindful of the food you eat as well. Once a month, Jimbo’s…Naturally! located in Horton Plaza offers a free cooking class. Certified nutritionists lead the classes in making tasty organic meals featuring local ingredients. In May, participants will make steak and veggie kabobs, grilled romaine, and frozen strawberry yogurt.
The Healthy Living initiative is just one of the many reasons people love living in Downtown San Diego condos.
