St Patricks Events for Downtown Residents

One of the best parts of living in Downtown San Diego is being smack-dab in the middle of the action, especially during lively holidays like Halloween, Mardis Gras, and St. Patrick’s Day. With St. Patty’s right around the corner, we thought we’d run through the top events happening in the downtown area.

St. Patty’s Beer Fest at Beer Company

$10 and up

For hops-enthusiasts who want to celebrate the Irish holiday by trying new beers, this event offers a number of crazy drink specials, like $3 pints for all Craft Beers, and music from a live DJ.

From bagpipers to equestrian units, there is something for everyone at the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade downtown, which will include over 120 parade entry participants. Thousands of marchers will showcase their talents around this year’s theme of “Celebrating Faith and Freedom.” The parade kicks off at 10:30am, but the streets are sure to get packed early.

Post-Parade Festival in Balboa Park
March 14

After watching the different floats, firemen, and leprechauns participate in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, head to the nearby festival in Balboa Park where Irish step dancers will do jigs and adults can indulge in an expansive beer garden. A KidZone will also be available with craft booths for the kiddos.

Miller Lite shamRock

Celebrate the patron of Ireland by rocking out in the Gaslamp Quarter where you’ll find over 40,000 square feet of Astroturf hills and a few hidden pots of gold. Guests can grab a few drinks at the pub in the street before heading to the Field Irish Stage where live bands will perform Irish rock and punk rock music.

Irish Breakfast at Dublin Square Irish Pub

$14.95

At Dublin Square Irish Pub you’ll find authentic Irish rock music, including a live performance by the Brick Top Blaggers. The pub will also serve a traditional Irish breakfast at 8am, which was voted “the best Irish-Jewish corned beef” by the San Diego Reader.

Please be responsible if you plan to imbibe. Use a ride share app, call a cab, or get a hotel room, but never drink and drive! Now, grab your green, grab your Guinness, and go have fun! ')}
