If you’re new to the area, perhaps you’ve just purchased a condo for sale in Downtown San Diego, don’t miss out on December Nights this coming weekend. Balboa Park will be hosting its thirty-eighth annual holiday festival on December 4th and 5th, 2015. On Friday the festival will run from 3pm to 11pm, and on Saturday it will run from noon to 11pm. December Nights is a family-friendly multicultural event and a fun opportunity to spread holiday cheer.
What It Is
December Nights is the largest free community festival in San Diego, and they are expecting over 350,000 visitors this year. Many of Balboa Park’s museums will be welcoming guests at no cost from 5pm to 9pm on both nights of the festival.
The park will be full of food, music, and entertainment! Some traditional December Nights’ festival favorites are the annual Santa Lucia Procession at the Plaza de California and enjoying delicious foods from all over the world at the International Christmas Festival at the House of Pacific Relations Cottages.
Entertainment and Crafts
Every year, guests look forward to the music and dance performances by the San Diego Junior Theatre, San Diego Civic Youth Ballet, San Diego Civic Dance Arts, Del Cerro Baptist’s Christmas Story Tree, and other talented groups. As always, there will be plenty of opportunities to purchase unique gifts and souvenirs from the artisans of Spanish Village and at the museums’ gift shops. December Nights is a fun way to enjoy the holidays!
Fun for Little Ones
This year, December Nights is bringing in some extra fun for the children. The Children’s Interactive Area will be located near the Botanical Building, and it will include crafts, games, and entertainment for Balboa Park’s youngest visitors. The Children’s Interactive Area will also feature a community mural that is a giant coloring page of Balboa Park. Children and their families are invited to help color the mural. The mural will be displayed in Balboa Park for the remainder of the holiday season.
