Whether you’ve lived in San Diego your whole life or just bought a loft for sale in downtown San Diego and are new to the area, there are tons of things you probably haven’t done. Here are a handful of things every local should have on his or her bucket list.
Ride the Giant Dipper
You aren’t truly a San Diegan until you’ve taken a spin on this historic rollercoaster. It was built 91 years ago (you heard that correctly), and the ride itself only takes about 45 seconds.
Head to OTL
Maybe you’ve heard to a little tournament called Over the Line? It’s hosted by the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club every summer on Fiesta Island and is known for its raunchy team names and raucous crowd.
Visit the USS Midway
A tradition for many local families, visiting the USS Midway gives you a peek into the rich history of the city. The aircraft carrier is a Cold War vessel turned museum. It also offers unparalleled views of Coronado, Point Loma, and the bay. You can also swing by the Star of India, the world’s oldest sailing ship still in use.
Take the Train to LA
Aside from being a better alternative to the bad traffic between San Diego and Los Angeles, the ride is much more relaxing and scenic and will only cost you $37 one way. Make a long weekend out of it and head all the way up to Santa Barbara.
Do Yoga at the Beach
If you aren’t from San Diego, you might think this is a joke, but head to any number of beaches on the weekends (even in winter) and catch a glimpse of yogis going through poses as the waves roll in. Grab a mat and join them at least once.
Ice Skate to the Hotel Del Coronado
Where else can you ice skate on the beach? After walking through the historic hotel and taking in the ornate decorations, architecture, and beautiful Christmas tree, head outside and grab a pair of skates. It’s busy, but go at sunset to drive the experience home.
