We love a good music festival almost as much as we love selling real estate in downtown San Diego, especially when the festival is in our own backyard.
Kaaboo2016, happening September 16 to 18 in Del Mar, is right around the corner! The festival will be held at the Del Mar Racetrack & Fairgrounds again, and gates open promptly at noon each day. Outdoor music winds down at 10pm on Friday and Saturday, and 9pm on Sunday. Friday and Saturday, however, the entertainment will continue inside after 10pm.
The Music
Music festivals are all about bringing together a large group of people to enjoy great music, and Kaboo 2016 is no different. Headliners include Jimmy Buffett, Jack Johnson, Aerosmith, and Fall Out Boy, with other standouts on the lineup including Daryl Hall & John Oates, The Avett Brothers, Steve Aoki, Ludacris, The Chainsmokers, Grouplove, Blues Traveler, RAC, Atlas Genius, and the Gin Blossoms.
The Comedians
In addition to the music lineup, there will also be entertainment provided by stand-up comedians. Some of the top comedians appearing include TJ Miller, Dana Carvey, Jeff Ross, Doug Benson, Natasha Leggero, Janeane Garofalo, and Cheech & Chong.
The Food
Food aficionados will love the opportunity to see “Top Chef” stars Richard Blais and Marcel Vigneron in action. Other chefs at the festival include Josiah Citrin, Ray Garcia, and another “Top Chef” alum, Brian Malarkey.
Everyone looking for a good snack can head to the Posh Nosh food plaza. Some of the top restaurants in the San Diego area will be serving food throughout the festival in this shaded area.
The Rules
There are oodles of things you cannot bring, so we’ll just cover what you can bring: blankets and beach towels, small backpacks, binoculars, empty water bottles, non-professional cameras, GoPros, strollers, and lighters. Make sure to check the website and review everything that’s prohibited.
The Cost
At $279 for a three-day pass, Kaaboo is a relatively affordable festival. Tickets will go up to $349 on the day of the event. One-day passes will become available closer to the festival.
