Nature sets the stage this summer for a number of outdoor concerts. If you’ve had a long day checking out lofts and condos for sale in downtown San Diego, wind down with an under the stars. Here’s the summer agenda of fantastic shows.
Sunday Afternoon Concert Series
Dates – Sundays, 1pm-4pm, July 10 through September 25
Admission – Free
Topping the list of free summer activities are Seaport Village concerts. The music spans a range of genres, including classic rock, country, island, rock ‘n roll, boogie-woogie, Cajun, and Zydeco. Stake your space around the East Plaza Gazebo, and wind down your weekend with relaxing entertainment. Here’s the event schedule:

Salsa Under the Stars at Headquarters
Dates – Monthly Fridays, 6pm-9pm
Admission – Free
Pulsing from the heart of the Seaport District, Headquarters is a lively entertainment center. The venue has historic landmark status as the former headquarters of the San Diego Police. Headlining at the Headquarters this summer is the Manny Cepeda Orchestra. The lead musician has been performing professionally since the age of seven and composes salsa music and arranges Latin jazz scores for prominent artists in New York and San Diego.
Twilight in the Park Concerts
Dates – Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, July 12 through September 1, 2016, 5:30pm-7:30pm
Admission – Free
This concert series has been an annual tradition for the past 36 years. Choose from a variety of music programs, such as Dixieland jazz, military music, swing, and Latin salsa. Concerts are staged at the majestic Spreckels Organ Pavilion within Balboa Park. This glorious instrument is one of the largest outdoor pipe organs in the world! The pipes number over 4,700 and range in length from pencil-size to 32 feet. You’re invited to pack a picnic, relax on the benches, and dance in the aisles.
Hullabaloo at Waterfront Park
Dates – Sundays through September 25, 6pm-7pm
Admission – Free
This family concert series is presented by The Hullabaloo Band, San Diego’s prize-winning kid-folk group. Recipient of 12 national awards, the band has played at the Hard Rock Café, Legoland, World Café Live, and the Austin City Limits Festival. The weekly event also includes kid-friendly activities, lawn games, and food trucks. The setting sun makes a stunning contribution, painting the sky and bay!
