Summer is just around the corner, and on Saturday, June 11, San Diego is ushering it in with the Tacos and Tequila Festival! Spicy food, cold drinks and hot music will set June on fire when 15 local breweries and 12 of San Diego’s best restaurants come together for a great time that will benefit a great cause, the San Diego Hunger Coalition.
The festivities will commence at 2pm (1pm for V.I.P.s) at SILO in Makers Quarters. San Diego Cumbia band Azucar will rock the event, joined by These Killers, a tribute band to The Killers, and new wave-influenced DJs Latin Lovers from Tijuana. Between the hot beats and the frosty beverages, the crowd should be motivated to dance all afternoon.
While the music will keep things lively, the food and drinks will be the real stars of the festival. Speaking of “stars,” look out for Bill and Ashley Travers, San Diego’s father-daughter duo who are competing against each other in the new season of Fox’s cooking series “MasterChef.” They’ll be among the taco providers whose fare will be complemented by featured tequila brands and craft beers from Ninkasi, Lagunitas, and Ironware, among others. At press time, the taco lineup hasn’t been announced, but last year’s taco stars included Ronin, Brooklyn Girl, Small Bar, and Paleo Bloks.
Tickets for the Tacos and Tequila Festival range from $40 to $50 and are available now at www.tacostequilafestival.com. Ticket holders get access to the event and its entertainment, unlimited craft beer and tequila samples, unlimited tacos, and admission to an exclusive after party. Come hungry (and thirsty), and plan on safe transportation for the ride back to your condo in downtown San Diego. The Tacos and Tequila Festival is for people over the age of 21, so leave the kiddos at home.
If tacos and tequila aren’t your thing—who are we kidding—if you love tacos and tequila but still haven’t found a new place to move into, use the weekend to check out condos and lofts for sale in downtown San Diego instead. Give us a call at (619) 649-0368 to schedule an appointment! ')}
