Foodies rejoice! Fireside by The Patio recently held its soft opening and the reviews are fantastic. If you haven’t checked out the new spot in Liberty Station just yet, get your fix with these fast facts.
1. The Patio Group is behind the project, with Antonio Friscia as the consulting chef for the new restaurant. Foodies in San Diego will remember Friscia for his work at local restaurants such as Gaijin Noodle & Sake House, Rustic Root, and Don Chido.
2. Nearly all of the 350 seats at Fireside are situated outside across two large patios with tables that range from two-tops to large benches with cushy pillows. There will be a central dining area, however, for those who wish to dine inside.
3. Fern Tran, once the lead chef at Gaijin Noodle in Gaslamp, will be featuring a menu at Fireside with skewered meats and vegetables. The menu will also have rotating specials.
4. Shareable plates will be featured at Fireside and range from whole fish, pork belly, and fish collars, to classic barbecue, which includes pork butt and brisket. These items will be featured on a chalkboard and rotate daily.
5. The majority of the cooking at Fireside will be done outside. Each of the patios has its own kitchen that comes stocked with impressive equipment such as a wood fired pizza oven, yakitori grills, smoker ovens, and wood burning Santa Maria-style grills.
6. The cocktails at Fireside were designed to pair with the food. The drink selection includes a 24-bottle boutique wine list, barrel-aged cocktails, original creations, and smoked cocktails.
7. Fireside by the Patio had their soft opening on March 9th, which had great reviews. They are now taking reservations for lunch and dinner.
