How to Incorporate Greenery into Your Condo or Loft

Green Spaces in Condos and Lofts

One of the main reasons people buy real estate in Downtown San Diego is because they prefer an urban lifestyle to living in the suburbs. However, plenty of people living in the city still want pops of greenery in their condo, loft, or penthouse. If you’re looking for ways to incorporate nature into your space, here are a few suggestions.

Hanging String Garden

You can buy or DIY a creative and super-cool hanging string garden that brings a whole new meaning to hanging plants. Tiny plants, (make sure you choose plants that can live with however much or little light your condo gets), moss and soil, and cotton thread and twine are essentially all you need to create a unique hanging garden in any space, big or small.

Container Gardens

Container gardens are ideal for Downtown San Diego condos or lofts with patios or balconies. Make a one-pot vegetable garden with tomatoes, peas, and peppers, or mix textures using flowers, bamboo, and a fern or spruce. Consider choosing a large brushed nickel container for a cohesive modern look.

Vertical Planters

If you have the wall space inside or outside, invest in a vertical planter. There are dozens of designs out there to fit every aesthetic taste, from rustic wood to spray-painted PVC pipe, they’re easy to maintain, and make a great conversation piece.

Succulents

Once primarily used as landscaping in desert areas, succulents are making a comeback in a big way. Succulents are hardy, need little water, and come in all different shapes, sizes, and even colors. Put multiple succulent terrariums throughout your loft or condo, or consider a large living wall for your balcony or even as a statement piece for inside.

Many of the condo communities in neighborhoods like Little Italy, East Village, and the Columbia District in Downtown San Diego also have shared outdoor spaces and are near local parks.
