1. LOUNGEsix Pool Party at Hotel Solamar
Cost: From $28
What’s Labor Day without a pool party? Head to Hotel Solamar where Croatia Squad will be headlining an event combining music, art, and fashion to raise money for interBLOK, an up-and-coming non-profit with a mission to rebuild orphanages around the world.
2. US Sand Sculpting competition
Cost: $6-$19
A four-day event where over 400 tons of sand will be brought in and dumped near the water at the ‘B’ Street cruise ship terminal pier. Sand sculptors from all over, including the Netherlands, Ireland, Italy and Canada, challenge the best in the United States.
3. Festival of Sail
Cost: $5-$7 w/ additional cost for cruises
The Festival of Sail is the largest Tall Ship festival on the west coast of America and takes place at the Maritime Museum of San Diego, near the Core and Columbia District of Downtown San Diego. A family-friendly four-day event, filled with parades, food, and a line of cannon signals
4. Del Mar Racing Season
Cost: From $6
Labor Day weekend is the last time you’ll be able to catch the ponies racing at the Del Mar Racetrack this season. Open Wednesday to Monday, gates open at noon with the first post at 2pm.
5. Centennial International Summer Organ Festival
Cost: Free
Starting June 22nd, the Summer Organ Festival stretches through Labor Day weekend with events until September 6th, and features the great Spreckels Organ and guest artists.
6. AD Nightclub
Cost: From $25
Featuring 2-Chainz for one night only, this nightclub livens up Monday night to close out Labor Day weekend with beats by DJ Bad and DJ E-Sudd. An upscale environment with a full on party atmosphere promises a night of dancing and fun.
7. Summer Pops, 1812 Tchaikovsky spectacular
Cost: $20-$87
The perfect finale for labor day weekend with a night of fireworks, cannons, and a booming orchestra. Located in the Embarcadero Marina Park South division.
